How openlane started
From a real problem, not a feature list.
openlane started from a project for a company that already used a PIM but could not manage products according to its own structure or transfer information to ecommerce automatically.
At first we built the connection between the two systems. But the problem was not only data exchange: the PIM itself did not reflect how the company organized and sold its products.
So we built a new solution around its real needs.
From that first project, openlane kept growing through work with other companies, products and sales models. Each new need helped us make the platform more complete while keeping it simple to use and adapt.
openlane was not designed in the abstract. It grew by solving real problems inside real companies.
The promise behind the name

The name openlane comes from a precise feeling: the relief of finally seeing a lane open after being stuck in traffic. Obstacles thin out, the path becomes clear again and you can move forward with direction back in your hands.
That is the feeling we want to offer when you manage product information: less rigidity, fewer steps that slow work down and more freedom to organize data, coordinate people and take your products to new channels and markets.
